Advocacy × Exploration: Empowering Professional Journalism
The 1st Wei Ming-Kuang Prize, hosted by the Wei Fund for Educational and Journalistic Excellence at National Chengchi University, is officially open for applications starting October 31, 2025. The Prize aims to encourage journalistic practices rooted in public mission, professional depth, and innovation, while advancing the media environment and professional credibility in Taiwan.
The Prize features two major categories:
- Initiative for Journalism Advancement (倡議獎): Recognizing reporting or projects that spark public discourse, promote social action, and drive systemic improvements.
- Initiative for Global Exploration (探索獎): Focusing on forward-looking journalistic experiments, including innovative formats, international collaborations, and digital transformation.
With grants of up to NT$2.5 million, this is one of the most significant funding opportunities for journalism in Taiwan.
Application Details:
Submission Period: October 31 – December 15, 2025
Eligibility: Legally established news media organizations, professional journalists, news teams, or independent reporters are all welcome to apply.
