「無論你出身如何，只要你努力，就會美夢成真。」獲選本年度傑出校友、現居美國經營中餐廳的魏明光， 除了推動中華美食全球化，產業更從餐飲跨足房地產。新聞系畢業的他，儘管畢業後未踏入新聞產業， 卻仍心繫臺灣的媒體環境。2011年，魏明光當選媒體觀察教育基金會監事，並連年捐款支持媒觀運行， 同時也力挺政大新聞系進行「新聞媒體表現觀察指標研究」，對新聞產業的關懷從未間斷。
